Fatal road accidents in India

Overview

Multiple fatal road accidents have been reported across various regions in India. In mid-September, incidents occurred in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, where a minibus overturned near the Batalgala Tunnel, and in Maharashtra, involving a multi-vehicle pile-up on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway and a collision on the Nagpur–Raipur National Highway. These accidents resulted in several deaths, including children.

By the end of September, fatal crashes continued on major expressways. In Gujarat’s Anand district, five people were killed and five others critically injured when a private bus, carrying between 30 and 40 passengers, collided with a truck on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway. In Maharashtra, a truck rammed into a Bolero pickup van on the Samruddhi Expressway near Dhamangaon Railway, killing seven people and injuring 19.

In early October, further fatalities were reported in Chhattisgarh’s Korea district and on the Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra’s Amravati district.

On October 9, new incidents were reported in Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir. In Gujarat’s Kutch district, seven workers died and more than 20 were injured following a head-on collision between a truck and a Bolero Camper inside a Renewable Energy Park near Khavda; the vehicle was reportedly carrying between 30 and 32 workers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. Additionally, in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, a canter bus accident in the Moghalla area of Kankote killed two people and injured 21 others, with three reported to be in critical condition.
