South American football leagues, specifically the Argentine Liga Profesional de Fútbol, are progressing through their tournament schedules. In late September, the Torneo Clausura entered Matchday 11, featuring fixtures such as Boca Juniors vs. Unión and Independiente vs. Instituto. By early October, Boca Juniors moved into second place following a 3-0 victory against Unión de Santa Fe. In the same league, Instituto maintained its position at the top of Group A after a 4-1 win over Independiente. During this period, River Plate requested to postpone its match against Sarmiento de Junín due to FIFA international dates. To maintain competitive rhythm during the FIFA international break, River Plate has scheduled a friendly match against Atlético Escobar, a team from the Federal A division. The match is set to take place at the River Camp in Ezeiza. This follows the rescheduling of River’s official match against Sarmiento de Junín for Wednesday, October 14. Unlike previous friendlies used for reserve players, Leonardo Ponzio intends for this match to feature regular starters to prepare the squad for the decisive stages of the Torneo Clausura. Recent reports confirm that River Plate has continued conducting closed-door training sessions and friendly matches, including the fixture against Atlético Escobar, as they manage their schedule following the postponement request. Regional activity remains widespread, with matches continuing in the Torneo Federal A and various local divisions involving teams such as Sportivo Belgrano and Racing. Racing is currently facing a critical match against Estudiantes de Río Cuarto amid a sporting crisis.
