Youth and regional sports competitions have ~~been~~ remained active across Mato Grosso do Sul and neighboring regions. ~~In mid-September, Chapadão do Sul hosted~~ Following the mid-September State Athletics Championship ~~for Sub-16 and Sub-14 categories, an event organized by the Athletics Federation of Mato Grosso~~ in Chapadão do ~~Sul to encourage regional athletic development. By early October,~~ Sul, sporting activity expanded in early October to include the Mato Grosso Open Games regional stage in ~~Araputanga,~~ Araputanga. This event, involving 44 teams ~~competing in various disciplines such as~~ from 13 municipalities, features basketball, futsal, handball, and ~~volleyball.~~ volleyball, with an expected 576 participants and a rotating audience of approximately 1,700 people. Additionally, Mato Grosso do Sul prepared to send 51 athletes to the Brazilian Under-16 Athletics Championship in São Paulo, a national event ~~featuring~~ with 1,227 registered participants that includes a tribute to Brazilian athlete Alison dos ~~Santos.~~ Santos, known as ‘Piu’, whose image will appear on medals and trophies. In Campo Grande, the Guanandizão Gymnasium hosted the 2026 FGMS State Artistic Gymnastics Championship. Organized by the Gymnastics Federation of Mato Grosso do Sul, the competition included approximately 191 athletes competing in both Women’s and Men’s Artistic Gymnastics across Beginner, Intermediate, and Base levels. Supported by the Municipal Sports Foundation (Funesp) with R$ 15,520 for arbitration costs, the event served as preparation for a national tournament in Maceió.
