Sri Lanka is scheduled to tour Pakistan in late 2026 for a multi-format cricket series. The tour includes a three-match T20I series, a two-match Test series as part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27, and a three-nation ODI tri-series involving Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and England. Prior to the tri-series, Pakistan secured a 2-1 T20I series victory over Sri Lanka. The ODI tournament, scheduled to run from October 18 to October 31, serves as critical preparation for the upcoming 50-over World Cup. The competition utilizes a double league round-robin format with matches hosted in Rawalpindi and Lahore, culminating in a final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on October 31. As the tournament approaches, team compositions feature notable absences: England will compete without Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer, while Sri Lanka faces the absence of Pathum Nissanka due to injury. Conversely, Pakistan features the return of Babar Azam. On October 17, the trophies for the tri-series were officially unveiled. Ahead of the opening match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi, Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi stated that the team has developed a strategy to win the series and noted the tournament would assist in “finalizing the World Test squad.” England captain Harry Brook remarked that playing in Pakistan is a challenge that “builds confidence,” citing his experience in the Pakistan Super League as beneficial. The tournament commenced on October 18 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium with a match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first. Pakistan’s lineup featured the ODI debut of 19-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Saad Baig, though the squad faced setbacks as leg-spinners Shadab Khan and Sufiyan Muqeem were ruled out due to illness.
