The Italian Ministry of Health has issued multiple food recalls involving various products due to contamination, allergen labeling errors, and product deterioration. Initial recalls included Eurospin’s ‘Portami Via’ brand vitello tonnato due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination, Coop ham sandwiches that failed to declare shrimp allergens, and Cigno partially skimmed milk suspected of deterioration. Subsequent updates expanded the scope of Listeria-related concerns. A major recall was issued for several meat products produced by A. M. M. 53 Srl in Spresiano, Treviso. Affected items include various veal with tuna, pork loin, and several types of turkey roast. The recall also specifically includes ‘Portami via’ brand turkey roast and veal with tuna commercialized by Eurospin Italia. Under the ‘A. M. M. 53 pasticceria-gastronomia’ brand, specific recalled items include veal with tuna (180g and 300g), pork loin, and various turkey roasts such as mushroom, lemon, and oven-roasted varieties. Additionally, the ‘Portami via’ brand products sold by Eurospin Italia—specifically the 170g lemon turkey roast and 180g veal with tuna—are subject to the recall. These products cover various lots and expiration dates ranging from mid-October to early November. Recent developments indicate the recall now encompasses approximately 60 batches of meat products. The affected items include vitello tonnato, baked turkey, turkey roast with mushrooms, and pork loin manufactured at the A. M. M. 53 facility. Authorities advise consumers not have warned that while Listeria can cause flu-like symptoms in healthy individuals, it poses a significant risk of severe illness, such as meningitis or sepsis, to consume these items pregnant women, young children, and those with weakened immune systems. Consumers are advised to discard the products or return them to the point of sale.
