In October 2026, the Italian Ministry of Health issued several food recalls due to microbiological contamination risks. Initial alerts included Casera DOP cheese flagged for Escherichia coli STEC, Lucanian cured meat containing Salmonella, and risks identified in Germinal Bio chickpea hummus and Piacers egg whites sold at Conad supermarkets. Subsequent recalls expanded to include organic eggs from the Monasterolo di Savigliano facility, affecting 18 lots under the Olivero Claudio and SìEssenziali brands due to Salmonella typhimurium. Additionally, 59 lots of meat products, including roast turkey, veal tonnato, and pork loin produced by A. M. M. 53, were withdrawn due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Other flagged items included Carrefour frozen swordfish fillets, Arkan tahini, and vacuum-packed clams and lupin beans from the Italmark supermarket chain. By late October, new recalls were issued for Gastronomia da Jack di Zazzali Giovanni, which recalled two 200g batches of tiramisu produced in Albareto due to a physical risk involving the “possible presence of a small steel sphere” inside the containers. Furthermore, Salumi Emedue s. r. l. initiated a large-scale recall of various sausage and salami products, including fennel sausage, spicy sausage, and peppered salami paste, due to suspected Salmonella contamination.
