The Turkish agricultural sector is experiencing varied trends across different product categories. Early reports for the 2026/27 season indicate rising citrus volumes, particularly for lemons and pomelos, which may lead to more competitive pricing despite cautious demand and shipment uncertainties to Russia. Conversely, the fig sector has faced an oversupply in the European market, resulting in high availability and downward pressure on prices. More recent projections Recent second production estimates from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) forecast significant substantial growth in overall production for 2026. Grain Total production for cereals and other plant products is expected to increase rise by 30.9%, with substantial rises forecasted for wheat 17.3 percent to 78.6 million tons, while fruits, beverages, and barley. Fruit spices are projected to increase by 60.8 percent to 31.5 million tons. Cereal production specifically is anticipated to grow by 60.8%, while vegetable 30.9 percent, reaching 44.8 million tons, driven by a 37.9 percent increase in wheat and a 66.7 percent surge in barley. However, corn production is projected expected to see decline by 4.7 percent. In the vegetable sector, a slight decrease of 0.8%. 0.8 percent is predicted. While production for cucumbers, carrots, and cauliflower is expected to rise, notable declines are anticipated for dry onion production, which may drop by 30.8 percent, as well as lettuce and fresh onions. Other projections include a 21.8 percent increase in sunflower production, while soybean production is forecasted to fall by 14.3 percent. Export data reflects this an upward trend, with fresh fruit and vegetable exports reaching $3.3 billion as of mid-October, a 41% increase compared to the previous year. Leading export products include peppers, tomatoes, and cherries.
