Legal proceedings in Argentina continue to address several high-profile criminal cases. In Corrientes, an oral and public trial is scheduled to begin on October 26 against Josías Santos Regis and attorney José Fernández Codazzi. Regis is accused of child abduction and aggravated homicide following a May 3 incident in Esquina, where he allegedly entered a residence and fired shots to cause emotional distress to a mother. Prosecutors claim Fernández Codazzi assisted in the escape to El Duraznillo with plans to move the child out of the country. The investigation into the disappearance of rural teacher Nancy Godoy has progressed with the discovery of burned clothing and a gag at a rancher’s shelter. Judges have ordered the preventive detention of Ireneo Antonio Zarza and Felipe Dionisio Sandoval as material authors of the suspected femicide, as searches for the teacher’s body continue. Investigators are currently conducting DNA analysis on the recovered items. In Florencio Varela, Federal Judge Jorge Ernesto Rodríguez has ordered the preventive detention of Ramiro Luis Mansur, Eugenia Magdalena del Valle Quispe Gallardo, Verónica Emilce Chieto, and David Alberto Godoy. They face charges of aggravated homicide, illegal deprivation of liberty, and drug trafficking in connection with the September 2025 killings of Brenda del Castillo, Morena Verdi, and Lara Gutiérrez. The judge also ordered embargoes of 1 billion pesos for each individual. In Tucumán, the oral trial for the femicide of Érika Álvarez has commenced. Felipe Sosa faces a potential life sentence, while Justina Gordillo and Jorge Orlando Díaz are being tried for aggravated concealment. Additionally, the trial for the Barracas massacre has begun in Buenos Aires, with Justo Fernando Barrientos accused of the aggravated homicide of women motivated by sexual orientation and gender violence.
