Reports indicate multiple incidents of electrical accidents involving workers in Mexico. In Tehuacán, a 32-year-old construction worker sustained second-degree burns over approximately 60 percent of his body after an electric arc was triggered while he was using a metal shovel near a substation. In Hermosillo, two separate fatal incidents were reported. One involved a 46-year-old municipal employee from the Public Lighting Directorate who died from severe burns after receiving a high-voltage discharge while attempting to repair a transformer from a utility vehicle. A second incident involved a worker performing painting tasks on a public lighting pole, who was found dead at the scene following a discharge. A third fatal incident occurred in Ciudad Juárez on October 26, 2026. Francisco David O. R., a 46-year-old employee of the Municipal Public Lighting Directorate, died following a high-voltage electrical accident while repairing a transformer and electrical wiring at the intersection of Plutarco Elías Calles Avenue and Insurgentes Street. While operating from the basket of a municipal service vehicle, the worker suffered severe burns from his chest to his legs. Although he was transported to the IMSS General Zone Hospital No. 2 for intensive care, medical officials confirmed his death on Wednesday due to the severity of the burns.
