In late October 2026, two separate fatal traffic accidents occurred in Italy. On October 23, a head-on collision between a Fiat Panda and a Cotral bus took place on Strada Provinciale 62 near Capena, north of Rome. The driver of the car, 82-year-old Franco Corradini, died at a Rome hospital following multiple traumas. The 55-year-old bus driver was also hospitalized in critical condition. Investigators are looking into whether the car crossed into the opposing lane due to a medical emergency or driver fatigue. On October 27, a collision involving a heavy truck and a van occurred on Via Casilina near Paliano. A semi-trailer reportedly lost control and skidded into the opposite lane, striking the van. The driver of the van, 49-year-old Fabrizio De Luca, died at the scene. A passenger in the van was critically injured and airlifted to a hospital Gemelli Hospital in Rome, while the truck driver sustained less severe injuries.
