Ubisoft Assassin's Creed Hexe development

Overview

Information regarding Ubisoft’s upcoming title, Assassin’s Creed Hexe, has emerged through both leaks and official company updates. Initial leaks involving casting documents suggested the game is set in 16th-century Germany during the witch trials, featuring a protagonist potentially named ‘Petra’ or ‘Anika Adler.’ These reports indicated a shift toward a more linear, narrative-driven experience with a dark atmosphere.

Ubisoft later confirmed progress on the project, officially describing Assassin’s Creed Hexe as a horror-themed installment. The publisher noted that the title will require a longer development period. In a roadmap update, Ubisoft described ‘Codename Hexe’ as a “darker experience within the franchise.”

As of late October 2026, Ubisoft confirmed that the project is making “steady progress” toward its unique, darker vision. Creative director Jean Guesdon emphasized a renewed focus on quality and the core identity of the series. The company reiterated that the next major update for Hexe is not expected until 2027. This development occurs alongside other franchise initiatives, such as the multiplayer project Codename Invictus, which is being refined following private playtests, and a live-action series for Netflix that is nearing completion in Rome. Additionally, Ubisoft noted that while no other Assassin’s Creed remakes are currently in active development following the release of Black Flag Resynced, the possibility for future remakes remains open.
