A violent confrontation occurred at the Angoor Adda border crossing in South Waziristan after Afghan security forces allegedly opened unprovoked fire on Pakistani military posts and residential areas. The initial exchange involved snipers, automatic weapons, and heavy artillery, resulting in one death and five injuries when a mortar reportedly struck a local home. In response, the Pakistan Army launched retaliatory strikes using heavy weaponry, including artillery, against Afghan Taliban positions in Afghanistan’s Paktika province. These operations targeted mortar installations and defensive bunkers near South Waziristan and Parachinar. The military action reportedly forced Afghan Taliban personnel to abandon their posts and flee, resulting in several deaths among the Taliban forces. Following these engagements, the deputy commissioner of Lower South Waziristan confirmed that Pakistani security forces targeted several Afghan border posts and defensive positions. While no Pakistani casualties have been reported in these specific border areas so far, the tension has escalated diplomatically. Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations, accused the Afghan Taliban regime of acting as a proxy for India and providing shelter to terrorists. He alleged that groups such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) receive support from external actors via Afghanistan.
