PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has implemented various social and environmental responsibility programs across Indonesia. In West Kalimantan, the company distributed 270 water pump units and firefighting equipment to the Landak and Sanggau Regencies to assist in forest and land fire prevention. Other initiatives include the revitalization of the Posyandu Lili health center in Sleman, Yogyakarta, to support maternal and child health through the Desa BRILiaN 1,000 Days of Life program. Additionally, in East Java, PT Surabaya Industrial Estate Rungkut (SIER) provided water tanks to residents of Jatiarjo Village in Pasuruan to mitigate clean water shortages caused by the Mount Arjuno fire. Expanding its scope toward national food security, BRI is now increasing financing across the entire food ecosystem, from upstream to downstream. This initiative, highlighted during the CNN Indonesia Agrifood Forum 2026, aims to support Indonesia’s national protein self-sufficiency agenda by targeting fisheries, livestock, MSMEs, cooperatives, and processing industries. During the forum, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan stated that food self-sufficiency is “a matter of national sovereignty,” emphasizing the need for infrastructure like cold storage and financial access for small scale producers. Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono also noted the strategic importance of the fisheries sector in meeting public protein needs through the development of value added seafood products.
