2027 Academy Award International Feature race

Overview

The selection process for the 2027 Academy Award for Best International Feature Film has commenced. Argentina initially announced four preselected films—‘El Partido’, ‘La Virgen de la Tosquera’, ‘Nuestra Tierra’, and ‘Parque Lezama’—to compete for the country’s official representation.

Following these national selections, the broader Academy Awards race has seen a record-breaking number of submissions, with totals expected to exceed 100. This expansion is attributed to a new rule allowing winners from major international film festivals to qualify for consideration. Among the notable entries is Argentina’s official selection, ‘La virgen de la tosquera’.
