2027 FIVB Volleyball World Championship preparations
Overview
The field of 32 teams for the 2027 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship, hosted by Poland, has been finalized. The tournament is scheduled to take place from September 10 to 26, 2027, with matches held in Gdansk/Sopot, Katowice, Krakow, Lodz, and Olsztyn.
Qualifiers include the host nation Poland and the 2025 world champions, Italy. Other participating teams represent various continental championships, including France, Slovenia, and Finland from Europe; Japan, Iran, and South Korea from Asia; the USA, Canada, and Cuba from North/Central America; Brazil, Argentina, and Chile from South America; and Tunisia, Cameroon, and Algeria from Africa. Additional spots were awarded via the FIVB World Ranking to teams such as Greece, Turkey, Germany, Serbia, and Bulgaria. Greece notably returns to the tournament for the first time since 2006.
The competition format will feature eight groups of four teams, with the top two from each group advancing to a round of 16 knockout stage.
