The 35th Economic Forum has commenced in Karpacz, Poland, running from September 8–10, 2026. Operating under the theme ‘The Architecture of a New Order – Stability in Times of Change,’ the event hosts over 6,000 participants from approximately 60 countries to discuss global challenges, including the war in Ukraine and shifting geopolitical power balances. A central component of the program is the presentation of the ninth report from the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, which analyzes economic and social challenges across Central and Eastern Europe, specifically regarding energy, finance, and technology. Additional programming includes a report by Jagiellonian University regarding disinformation and cognitive security, as well as sessions on technological revolutions by American geopolitician Hal Brands and war correspondence ethics featuring Mads Nissen. Security for the large-scale gathering is being managed by various police units, including prevention, traffic, and counter-terrorism services. The Polish Press Agency (PAP) is also participating with a dedicated studio to host debates on security, the economy, and digital transformation. The forum has encountered controversy regarding its engagement with Chinese entities. Kamil Basaj, president of the INFO OPS Poland Foundation, withdrew from the event in protest of a panel titled ‘China Within Reach: A Meeting with Chinese Business Leaders.’ Basaj criticized the forum for framing Chinese business as separate from state politics, noting that the session includes the Chinese Ambassador to Poland, Shan Lu, and representatives from state-controlled entities such as ICBC and CITIC Group.
