48th Efebo d’Oro Film Festival

Overview

The 48th edition of the Efebo d’Oro film festival is scheduled to take place from November 7 to 15 at the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa in Palermo, Italy. The program will emphasize the connection between cinema and narrative through film screenings, author meetings, and book presentations.

German director Christian Petzold, a leading figure of the ‘Berliner Schule’ movement, will receive the Efebo d’Oro Lifetime Achievement Award. Petzold is set to participate in several activities, including presenting ‘Miroirs no. 3’ (2025) to officially open the festival, introducing previous works such as ‘Undine’, ‘Roter Himmel’, and ‘Transit’, and participating in a film lecture.

The festival will also feature a cinematic tribute to Austrian poet and writer Ingeborg Bachmann to mark her centenary. Competition sections include five films based on literary works and five in the Efebo Prospettive section for best first or second works.
