4v4 soccer festival in Yamaguchi

Overview

In late September 2026, it was announced that Now Do Inc., led by Keisuke Honda, and KDDI would host the ‘4v4 EVENT Presented by au Autumn Soccer Festival 2026 in Yamaguchi’ at Yamaguchi Kirara Expo Memorial Park from October 10 to 12.

The event utilized a specialized ‘4v4’ soccer format designed by Honda to emphasize individual decision-making, autonomy, and creativity. The festival included soccer clinics for elementary school students led by former Japanese national team players Yosuke Kashiwagi and Yuya Kubo, alongside talk sessions and experience tournaments.

Following the event, reports confirmed that approximately 1,000 participants attended the two-day festival. The 4v4 format featured specific rules such as 10-minute matches, a 20-second shot clock, and the absence of sideline coaches to require players to manage their own substitutions and timeouts. During the clinics, Kashiwagi highlighted the need for “independent thinking and imagination,” while Kubo encouraged participants to pursue professional success.
