80th birthday celebrations of Brazilian musicians

Overview

Several prominent Brazilian musicians are marking their 80th birthdays with significant musical celebrations and tours.

Singer and composer João Bosco is celebrating his milestone with a series of cultural events, including a special concert at Qualistage on October 2. This performance features guest appearances by Hamilton de Holanda and Tiago Iorc, alongside musicians Ricardo Silveira, Guto Wirtti, Kiko Freitas, and Marçal. The setlist highlights works from his five-decade career, including songs composed with Aldir Blanc. Bosco is also scheduled to perform at Teatro Guaíra and is preparing to release a new album titled ‘Amigo’ in 2026.

Simultaneously, musicians Toquinho and Alceu Valença are conducting major tours. Toquinho is concluding his ‘Só Tenho Tempo Pra Ser Feliz’ tour with performances at Vivo Rio, which include the recording of an audiovisual project. The show features singer Camilla Faustino and utilizes LED panels to display archival footage of classics such as ‘Aquarela’ and ‘Regra Três.’

Alceu Valença is performing his ‘80 Girassóis’ tour. Following dates across ten Brazilian capitals, the tour includes several locations in Portugal, specifically the Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon, the Convento de São Francisco in Coimbra, and the Coliseu do Porto. His setlist highlights his Northeastern Brazilian roots with songs like ‘Anunciação’ and tributes to Luiz Gonzaga.
