Following its premiere in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival, Jordan Firstman’s directorial debut, ‘Club Kid’, became the subject of an eight-figure bidding war involving Netflix, Mubi, and Searchlight. A24 reportedly acquired the distribution rights for approximately $17 million. The comedy-drama, which follows a New York City nightlife promoter navigating life after discovering he has a ten-year-old son, is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 6 in select United States cinemas. Prior to this release, the film is slated to appear at several festivals, including Telluride, the Toronto International Film Festival, and the New York Film Festival. At Cannes, the film received nominations for the Queer Palm and the Caméra d’Or. The cast features Reggie Absolom, Cara Delevingne, Diego Calva, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste. In addition to its North American festival run, ‘Club Kid’ has been selected as the closing film for the tenth edition of the PAFF film festival in Amsterdam, with a simultaneous screening in six cinemas scheduled for October 11. A wider theatrical release in the Netherlands is set to begin on November 5.
