Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders have faced legal and police actions following a series of protests. In Chandigarh, Punjab Police detained former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia during a demonstration against Chief Electoral Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Sisodia and other party members, including Punjab Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, marched toward the Chief Electoral Officer’s office to demand Kumar’s resignation. Sisodia alleged electoral manipulation, claiming the BJP is “stealing votes” and specifically citing the removal of 40,000 votes from Arvind Kejriwal’s constituency in a previous Delhi election. AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal criticized the detention, describing the situation as “worse than an emergency” and accusing the administration of suppressing democratic rights. In Delhi, police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against AAP members, including Arvind Kejriwal, following a complaint by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC). The DSGMC alleged that AAP workers disrupted the area near Gurudwara Bangla Sahib by unfurling banners and raising slogans, which the committee claimed violated the sanctity of the religious site. The DSGMC further accused AAP leaders of circulating misleading videos on social media to malign the gurdwara's management. In response, an AAP delegation met with Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargajj to seek action against the Union Home Minister, alleging that police personnel entered the premises with shoes on and uncovered heads while pursuing protesters. Delhi Police have refuted these claims, stating that officers were seen in a common passage used by devotees to remove footwear. The party has also announced a one-day hunger strike scheduled for October 15 to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Meanwhile, the Citizens for Fraternity Forum (CFF) has urged the Delhi Police and central ministers to conduct a prompt investigation.
