The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Goa Forward Party (GFP) have formed a pre-poll alliance called ‘Goa First’ to contest the 2027 Goa Assembly elections. The alliance aims to provide a third political alternative to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress. During the initial announcement in Panaji, AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal claimed that voters have been ‘cheated twice’ by the two dominant parties. GFP president Vijai Sardesai stated the bloc would prioritize Goan interests and remain open to other secular political forces. Following the announcement, Arvind Kejriwal visited Vijai Sardesai to mark the ~~alliance. Fernandes argued that a true opposition to the BJP would have resulted in a partnership with the Congress. In response, All India Congress Committee Goa in-charge Manikrao Thakare stated that the Congress remains open to alliance talks with opposition parties to ensure a united front, though he noted that any party perceived as assisting the BJP would be ‘judged by the voters’.
