Abruzzo regional health and safety initiatives

Overview

In late July 2026 the Abruzzo Regional Council approved two major measures: a management programme to implement the Regional Oncology Plan, aimed at digitising the region’s cancer‑care network, and a security protocol agreement with the Ministry of the Interior to enhance integrated control systems for crime prevention.

A week later, in early August 2026, the regional government expanded its health agenda with a new Regional Prevention Plan focused on occupational health and safety, targeting high‑risk sectors and introducing training and self‑assessment tools. Concurrently, the council created 44 permanent positions for Single Access Points in health districts, funded by national resources, to strengthen socio‑health integration across the region.
