Tensions have developed at AC Milan involving captain Mike Maignan and the club’s supporters. Fans expressed frustration following Maignan’s absence from the funeral of club legend Franco Baresi while the team was on a summer tour, as well as his decision to extend his summer holiday with club approval.

Commentator Carlo Pellegatti has joined the criticism, disapproving of the decision to grant Maignan and Adrien Rabiot additional vacation days during the pre-season. Pellegatti also noted a lack of clarity regarding the club’s summer transfer strategy, stating that the direction remains “nebulous” ahead of a scheduled meeting around August 13.

Maignan’s future at the club has become increasingly uncertain following reports of interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, which is reportedly seeking a high-level goalkeeper. The captain, who is under contract until 2031, has reportedly experienced growing dissatisfaction due to recent changes in Milan’s technical staff and management. Specifically, the departures of key figures who were instrumental in his contract renewal have contributed to the tension.

Recent reports specify that Maignan’s dissatisfaction stems from the departures of former coach Massimiliano Allegri, sporting director Igli Tare, and goalkeeper coach Claudio Filippi. Further scrutiny has followed his decision to postpone his return to pre-season training from August 12 to August 16. While speculation persists regarding his interest in new opportunities, AC Milan maintains that the goalkeeper is not for sale and remains a cornerstone of the project under Ruben Amorim.
