The 44th Acampamento Farroupilha at Parque da Harmonia in Porto Alegre began its preparations with the assembly of enclosures following a period of severe weather. The event is themed ‘Jesuit and Guarani Heritage in Rio Grande do Sul: 400 Years of Culture and Tradition’ and features singer Fátima Gimenez as its patron. As the event progressed, the Porto Alegre Municipal Education Secretariat scheduled educational activities for municipal students to take place from September 1 to 18. These activities include the ‘Ciranda Escolar’ involving nearly 3,000 students, environmental workshops, and cultural programs such as the ‘Lanceirinhos Negros’ and ‘Fábulas do Sul’ shows. The ‘Lanceirinhos Negros’ project, an anti-racist initiative by the Odomode Afro-South Cultural Institute, focuses on teaching children about the history of Black soldiers in the Farroupilha Revolution.
