In early July 2026 the Indianapolis Colts announced that Adam Vinatieri would join their Ring of Honor on Oct. 18. In early August he was formally enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, becoming only the third full‑time full-time placekicker ever honored. The Hall of Fame citation highlighted his NFL records—2,673 points, 599 field goals, a 44‑kick 44-kick streak, 715 attempts, and 21 seasons with 100‑plus 100-plus points—and recalled signature clutch kicks, such as the 45‑yard 45-yard blizzard field goal in the 2002 AFC divisional playoff, the 23‑yard game‑winner 23-yard game-winner that sent New England to the conference championship, and the 48‑yard 48-yard field goal that secured the Patriots’ first Super Bowl in 2004. After ten seasons with the Patriots and 14 with the Indianapolis Colts, Vinatieri added a fourth Super Bowl ring in 2006 and broke the Colts’ career scoring record before retiring in 2019 at age 47. On August 7, Vinatieri received the Hall’s gold jacket at a dinner with the 2026 inductees—including Drew Brees, Roger Craig, Larry Fitzgerald and Luke Kuechly—before the enshrinement ceremony the next day in Canton, Ohio, where Colts owner Carlie Irsay‑Gordon Irsay-Gordon presented the honor. During his induction, Vinatieri called used humor in his acceptance speech, including a joke directed at his former coach Bill Belichick, who was not in attendance. Vinatieri described the week’s week's events as “incredible.”
