Adana is implementing a long-term economic strategy known as the Adana Development Program, which aims to position the region as a major production and logistics hub by 2040. This roadmap includes 311 projects, such as the Ceyhan-Yumurtalık petrochemical corridor, the East Mediterranean Container Port, and the Çukurova International Airport. As part of the region's broader economic and agricultural focus, the city is preparing for the 10th International Adana Flavor Festival, scheduled for October 9–11 at Merkez Park. Under the theme “Acısıyla Tatlısıyla 10. Yıl, On’ca Lezzet” (10 Years of Bittersweet Flavors, Dozens of Tastes), the event will highlight the culinary heritage of the Toros Mountains, the Çukurova plains, and the Karataş Sea. The festival features international chefs and aims to build on previous economic successes, such as the 3.7 billion lira in economic activity generated in 2025. Organizers aim to attract over one million visitors to this year’s festival, which will feature international chefs from Mexico, Egypt, India, and South Korea. A new “Zero Waste” concept will be implemented, utilizing biodegradable and recyclable materials for all packaging and utensils. In addition to the gastronomy celebrations, Adana will host the WTA 125 Adana Open tennis tournament from September 26 to October 4. The tournament is expected to host 40 athletes from 34 different countries, including several players ranked in the world's top 100, serving as a platform to promote the region's history and geography to an international sporting audience. During a recent press launch, Governor Mustafa Yavuz highlighted the festival's role as a significant brand value for the city, noting that it has attracted over 4 million visitors over the past nine years. Yavuz emphasized that the festival generates substantial economic and social activity for the surrounding region, including Mersin, Osmaniye, Hatay, and Gaziantep.
