AEK B.C. has engaged in several roster and coaching movements. The club first announced the signing of 18-year-old point guard Vasilis Chartonas to a five-year deal running through 2031. Subsequently, the club announced a contract renewal for Lithuanian international guard Lukas Lekavicius, who signed a two-year extension keeping him at the SUNEL Arena until the summer of 2028. Lekavicius, a veteran who has previously played for clubs such as Zalgiris and Panathinaikos, is also reportedly in the final stages of obtaining a Greek passport to provide further roster flexibility. Furthering its youth development, the club signed 18-year-old guard Vasilis Ioannou to a 3+1 year agreement until 2030, with a planned loan to AS Papagou for the 2026-2027 season. In August 2026, the club extended the contract of team captain Dimitris Flionis until the summer of 2029, a move management described as a “significant commitment.” On August 24, 2026, the club announced the return of 30-year-old forward/center Giorgos Chalbouris on a contract through the end of the 2026-2027 season. Chalbouris, who previously played for AEK from 2015 to 2019, joins after a stint with Panionios and preseason preparations with Armani Milano. On August 27, 2026, AEK B.C. announced a long-term extension for coach Dragan Sakota, securing him until the summer of 2030. The club described the extension as a recognition of Sakota’s “deep, historic connection to the team.” While Sakota will remain head coach through the 2026-2027 season, his role following that period will be determined by him, allowing for potential transitions into other capacities such as technical director.
