AEL FC has entered a period of restructuring and preparation for the new football season. The club has set ambitious goals, including winning the cup and securing a top-six position to pursue European competition. Spokesperson Nikolas Leventis noted that while squad quality has improved, the integration of 15 new players will require time to achieve cohesion. As the club transitioned to its Superbet League 2 campaign, the season opener against Anagennisi Karditsas was scheduled for September 6 at the AEL FC ARENA. While ticket prices were set between 5€ and 30€, concerns were raised regarding the 16:00 kickoff time due to forecasts of extreme heat in Larissa, with temperatures expected to reach 39°C. Following the opener, AEL secured a significant 2-0 away victory against Pafos at the ‘Stelios Kyriakidis’ stadium. In the third round, AEL achieved a dominant 4-0 victory against PAS Pyrgos, maintaining an unbeaten record and moving into third place. Following these performances, AEL FC achieved its strongest start to a season in five years, securing nine points and moving to the top of the standings alongside AEK. This momentum continued into the fourth round of the Superbet League 2, where AEL secured a 1-0 win against PAOK B at the AEL FC Arena. A goal by Boussis in the 6th minute proved decisive, keeping AEL undefeated with a total of 10 points. AEL currently shares the top of the standings with Panionios. Following the 1-0 victory against PAOK B, AEL Novibet moved to the top of the Superbet League 2 standings. Despite the win, the club issued an official statement expressing “strong dissatisfaction with the officiating,” claiming the referee committed a series of “errors and inadequacies.” AEL requested that the KED appoint more experienced officials for high-stakes matches to ensure respect for the club and its supporters.
