In early July 2026 entrepreneur Zisis Stylianou completed the takeover of AEL, promising transparent, merit‑based management and a swift return to the Super League. He confirmed Makis Belebonis as technical director and former international Sotiris Kyrgiakos as general director. On 23 July the club staged its first public open training at the AEL FC Arena, drawing about 4,000 supporters. Coach Socrates Ofridopoulos used the occasion to outline a plan centred on local talent, evoking the historic 1985‑86 double‑title season as a benchmark for the rebuild.
