Aeroméxico has announced plans to launch a new direct flight route connecting Milan Malpensa to Mexico City, with operations scheduled to begin in March 2027. This expansion will utilize Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft and is intended to serve both business and leisure travelers. The move aims to capitalize on tourism growth between Italy and Mexico, noting that Italy is currently the 13th largest source of tourists for Mexico. If approved by government authorities, this route will make Aeroméxico the only Mexican carrier providing direct connections between Mexico City and two major Italian hubs, alongside its existing service to Rome Fiumicino. As of September 2026, the airline has officially opened ticket sales for the service, which is slated to commence on March 28, 2027. The route will operate four times per week, with specific departure days scheduled to ensure connectivity from both directions. The airline will employ both 787-8 and 787-9 models. Giancarlo Mulinelli, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Aeromexico, stated that the route aims to “strengthen cultural, commercial, and business ties between Mexico and Italy.” The initiative follows a 13.7% increase in Italian tourists visiting Mexico over the previous year and has received support from the Lombardy Region and Sea Airports.
