The African Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Championship is scheduled to take place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, at the Palais des Sports de Treichville from October 13 to 15, 2026. Leading up to the event, the Guinean Federation of Muay Thai, MMA and Related Disciplines sought administrative clarification and state support from the Guinean Ministry of Sports. The federation reported facing uncertainty due to a dispute with an unidentified NGO and the emergence of a competing federation. Despite these hurdles, athletes continued preparations for the competition. In Côte d’Ivoire, the Minister of Sports, Adjé Silas Metch, met with a delegation from the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA). During this meeting, GAMMA member Dr. Nikolaos Stavropoulos expressed confidence in the host nation’s ability to organize the event, and the Minister reaffirmed state commitment to the professionalization of MMA. As the championship period begins, the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) has finalized project details following their meeting with the Ivorian Minister of Sports.
