Throughout mid-to-late 2026, youth-led and community-driven initiatives expanded across West and Central Africa, focusing on governance, health, employment, and environmental sustainability. Environmental restoration efforts intensified through major reforestation campaigns, such as the project in Zinzenou, Côte d'Ivoire, aiming to plant 250,000 trees. However, environmental concerns persist; youth leader Otté Hermann Cyriac has raised alarms regarding illegal gold mining in the Sassandra and Fresco departments, reporting that clandestine networks are polluting water sources, specifically affecting the Gaoulou pumping station.
