If validated, Flores would surpass the record for the oldest man ever verified, previously held by Japan’s Jiroemon Kimura, who died at age 116. Flores, a former banana plantation worker and farmer, has received support from Costa Rican President Laura Fernández, who ordered the construction of a new home for him.
