The upgrade of the Agios Nikolaos Tourist Port and Marina in Greece, funded by the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility, reached completion in August 2026. Prior to the official opening, the project was described as an initiative to enhance maritime tourism and modernize the region’s infrastructure. Following the inauguration on August 18, 2026, details emerged regarding the two million euro investment. The upgrades include new floating docks, increased mooring capacity, mechanized systems, and renewable energy sources. Additionally, the project introduced electric vehicle infrastructure and accessibility improvements for persons with disabilities. Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni noted during the ceremony that the marina acts as a “gateway to the city” and a “vital hub for economic activity,” intended to bolster Greece’s standing in Mediterranean yachting through digitalization and sustainability. She emphasized that the investment aims to promote high-value maritime tourism to benefit local communities throughout the year.
