Agricultural and infrastructure developments in Konya

Overview

In Konya, Turkey, regional authorities are implementing various initiatives focused on resource management and agricultural sustainability.

New environmental projects involve a cooperation protocol between the Konya Forestry Regional Directorate and the Konya Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. Funded by the Global Environment Facility, these efforts aim to research the use of treated wastewater and sewage sludge to improve soil fertility and carbon storage, supporting reforestation in degraded areas. Additionally, digital farming technologies, such as pheromone-based tracking cameras in the Çumra district, are being used to monitor pest populations and optimize pesticide application.

Infrastructure developments include water management projects by the KOSKI General Directorate on the Toros Group water line and the commencement of construction on the Konya Ahırlı Akkise Pond. Local governance reports indicate that 663 investment projects are currently underway in the province.
