In late July 2026, the Istanbul 8th Civil Court transferred control of ~~the~~ Ahbap Derneği’s assets to a three‑person trustee board and placed its commercial subsidiaries under the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund, ordering the association’s activities to be halted and a dissolution process to begin. The trustees appointed were lawyers Rıdvan Can, Mustafa Göktuğ Kaya and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kasım Han, and several public figures were summoned for testimony. A week later, the Istanbul 29th Civil Court reaffirmed the trusteeship, formally appointing the same management trustees and suspending all charitable activities pending the outcome of a lawsuit filed by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. The suit alleges misuse of earthquake‑relief donations, irregular money transfers and criminal conduct, and seeks the association’s dissolution. On 7 August 2026, the Istanbul 29th Asliye Hukuk Mahkemesi ordered a temporary suspension of all Ahbap activities, sealed its premises and transferred control of both movable and immovable assets to the trustees while the dissolution case proceeds.
