The municipal government of Ahome, Sinaloa, has initiated infrastructure maintenance projects to improve road conditions in both urban and rural areas. Initially, efforts focused on ballasting and leveling rural roads across seven syndicatures and Los Mochis to mitigate the impact of the rainy season and ensure community access. Following these efforts, the Public Works Directorate expanded operations to include daily pothole repairs using asphalt. Officials noted that while asphalt has a shorter lifespan than hydraulic concrete, it enables the municipality to address a higher volume of damage caused by heavy rainfall and constant vehicle traffic. The administration is also working to improve water drainage to prevent further pavement deterioration. Recent administrative efforts have expanded to include broader public service rehabilitations. Mayor Antonio Menéndez de Llano Bermúdez met with Sinaloa Governor Graciela Domínguez Nava to discuss the rehabilitation of sewage and potable water systems. In addition to road and water infrastructure, the municipality is addressing environmental concerns by managing invasive water hyacinth in irrigation canals to protect local fauna and water bodies. Furthermore, the Public Works Department continues daily pothole repairs in both urban and rural sectors to mitigate ongoing damage from heavy rains and traffic.
