In the enterprise domain, Anthropic has secured a major infrastructure agreement with Akamai, valued between $11.6 billion and $20.6 billion over seven years. This deal involves Anthropic utilizing Akamai’s infrastructure for CPU workloads, prompting Akamai to anticipate significant capital expenditures to secure critical components.

Simultaneously, AI integration is reshaping network operations. Industry discussions emphasize the role of agentic AI and machine learning in network design, data center architecture, and autonomous management. While 51% of organizations are reportedly running agentic AI in production, new developments include the introduction of AI agents for network observability and Google’s exploration of launching Tensor Processing Units into space. However, the shift also introduces security challenges, as traditional firewalls may lack the “semantic intelligence” required to secure modern AI traffic.
