Air Algérie capacity expansion and promotions route development
Air Algérie has announced an expansion of its operations and the introduction of new promotional fares for international routes. The airline is offering discounted round-trip tickets to various European destinations, including France and Portugal, with specific routes such as Batna to Marseille, Biskra to Lyon, and Béjaïa to Paris-Roissy. Some fares for these routes start from 19,000 DZD, and reduced rates are also available for Algiers to Lisbon. In terms of market positioning, the carrier is increasing its capacity across Africa. For September 2026, Air Algérie plans to offer 756,627 seats, a 13.3% increase compared to September 2025. This growth positions the airline as the fifth largest carrier in Africa by programmed capacity, following Royal Air Maroc and trailing the regional leader, Ethiopian Airlines. Expanding its promotional scope, the airline launched a new series of international deals for bookings made between September 28 and October 31, 2026, for travel through March 27, 2027. These promotions cover destinations in Europe, Canada, China, Africa, and America. European routes include Algiers to Barcelona, Rome, Alicante, and Brussels, alongside regional connections like Tlemcen to Marseille and Constantine to Metz. Long-haul options include Guangzhou, China, and Montreal, Canada. Notably, the airline extended a specific offer for the Montreal-Algiers route, providing round-trip economy tickets for 750 CAD for travel between December 1 and March 31. Furthering its network development, Air Algérie announced the launch of five new international routes departing from Algiers, scheduled to begin between October 25 and October 28, 2026. Four of these routes serve African destinations, including Conakry, Brazzaville, Lagos, and Tripoli. Additionally, the airline will add a connection to Shanghai, China, to complement its existing services to Beijing and Guangzhou. This expansion is intended to strengthen aerial connectivity, facilitate economic exchanges, and support Algerian businesses expanding across the continent.
