Airbus Flexrotor UAV contracts

In July 2026 Airbus Helicopters announced its first Canadian sale of the U030 Flexrotor unmanned aerial system, signing a contract with Voyageur Aviation – a subsidiary of Chorus Aviation – at the Farnborough International Airshow. The deal positions Voyageur as the launch customer for the long‑endurance, VTOL drone, intended for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance missions across Canada’s remote, coastal and Arctic regions.

A week later the company reported the platform’s first operational deployment in Europe. The European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) began using the Flexrotor for maritime surveillance over the Baltic Sea, covering Estonia, Latvia and Finland. The system supports search‑and‑rescue, fisheries control, environmental monitoring and detection of illicit activity, feeding real‑time sensor data to EMSA’s RPAS data centre. This European service builds on a €30 million framework contract awarded to Airbus in December 2025 for remote‑piloted aircraft services.

Both announcements were made at the same airshow and highlight Airbus Helicopters’ expanding market for the Flexrotor UAV, catering to both civilian and defence applications in North America and the European Union.
