Akasa Air has reached its four-year operational milestone, expanding from a single aircraft in 2022 to a fleet of 40. During its anniversary period in August 2026, the airline reported a 6.4% domestic market share and introduced ‘Akasa Elevate’, a new loyalty program designed to reward members with points on flights and ancillary services. To support its continued growth and capital requirements, the carrier entered into a sale-and-leaseback agreement with the Dublin-based lessor Avolon. This deal involves up to seven Boeing 737-8-200 aircraft, marking the third transaction between the two companies. This arrangement allows Akasa Air to raise capital while maintaining its fleet, which remains centered on the Boeing 737 MAX platform. As of September 2026, the airline has expanded its operational fleet to 42 aircraft following the induction of a Boeing 737 MAX 8-200, registered as VT-YBS. This delivery represents the eleventh aircraft induction for the carrier in the 2026 calendar year. Akasa Air continues to pursue a long-term growth strategy, maintaining a significant orderbook of 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with 186 additional deliveries scheduled over the next six years, aiming to become one of the top 30 airlines globally by the end of the decade.
