Construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in Mersin, Turkey, has reached several infrastructure and safety milestones. In late August 2026, the site commissioned a second independent fire station to bolster emergency response capabilities. Technical preparations are currently focused on the cold stage of the reactor facility's cold-hot testing sequence. Additionally, construction has progressed on the fourth power unit with the completion of concrete pouring for a machine hall slab located 18 meters above ground level. In early October 2026, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stated that the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is expected to produce its first electricity within the next few months.
