Al Ahly continued its pre‑season build‑up in late July, confirming a friendly with Saudi side Al‑Nasr on 23 July and a match versus Laviena on 30 July. The club then launched a two‑week training camp in Spain from 6 August to 20 August under coach Hussein Omuta. During the camp Al Ahly posted a 7‑1 victory over Laviana, a 5‑1 win over Al‑Nasr and a 5‑2 triumph against Petrol Asyout on 5 August before heading to the Joan Gamper Cup to face FC Barcelona on 19 August.
