Albania has undergone a change in its Ministry of Health and Social Welfare following the resignation of Evis Sala. Sala cited new international professional commitments in oncology, artificial intelligence, and innovation as the reason for her departure, noting her work in establishing the National Oncology Institute during her tenure. Prime Minister Edi Rama proposed Klodiana Spahiu, a cardiologist and Socialist Party deputy, as the successor. President Bajram Begaj subsequently issued a decree dismissing Sala and officially appointing Spahiu to the role. Spahiu has expressed her commitment to maintaining the government’s existing health sector objectives. During a new session of the Albanian Parliament, Spahiu’s appointment was formally approved with 79 votes. Additionally, the Parliament elected Evis Kushi as Deputy Speaker with 79 votes.
