Following the resignation of Evis Sala, Klodiana Spahiu has been officially sworn in as Albania’s Minister of Health and Social Welfare. Spahiu, a cardiologist and Doctor of Medical Sciences, was appointed by President Bajram Begaj following a proposal by Prime Minister Edi Rama. In parliamentary debates, Spahiu issued a challenge regarding medical infrastructure, stating she would resign if PET Scan services are not implemented by 2027. Recent administrative actions have drawn support from Deputy Erion Braçe, who commended the dismissal of the Health Operator's director and the cancellation of a procurement procedure as steps toward reducing clientelism in the healthcare sector. ~~Beyond hospital administration,~~ Expanding on these administrative shifts, Spahiu has ~~engaged in social welfare initiatives, including a visit~~ appointed Suela Popa as the new director of the Mandatory Health Care Insurance Fund (FSDKSH), succeeding Ilir Topi. During this visit, she emphasized~~ public fund utilization and strengthen cooperation within the ~~necessity~~ hospital system.
