Aldi has expanded its Tandil laundry detergent line, including the introduction of XXL 4.25-kilogram powder packs in color and universal variants to lower the cost per application. The brand is manufactured by several companies: Dalli-Werke produces Tandil Ultra liquid detergent, Chemolux manufactures Tandil Aktiv powder, and the Tandil Eco line is supplied by ECC Ecological Cleaning and Care GmbH. To reduce material use, Aldi transitioned the packaging for its 3-in-1 Active Caps and Color Caps to grey boxes made of 92 percent recycled polypropylene. Developed with Interzero, the grey color results from using mixed recycled plastic sources. Consumer testing and economic analyses highlight the brand’s cost-effectiveness. Financial comparisons show Tandil products cost approximately 16 cents per wash, whereas premium alternatives like Persil range from 27 to 34 cents per load. For a family performing 250 wash cycles annually, using Tandil would total roughly 40 euros, offering significant household savings compared to brand-name products. Additionally, some powder formulations include zeolites to bind lime, which can reduce detergent usage in areas with soft water.
