ALDI US is expanding its product range by entering the prepared meals sector for the first time in five decades. Starting in October, the discount supermarket chain will launch its first proprietary line of prepared meals under the ALDI brand. The initial rollout includes seven products: five single-serving portions priced under $8 and two family-sized trays priced under $15. Specific single-serve items include Beef Bolognese Spaghetti, Butter Chicken & Rice, and Chicken Burrito Bowls, while family-sized options feature Chicken and Bacon Mac ‘n’ Cheese and a Meat Lovers Pizza Bake. The company noted that “hundreds of recipes were tested” to meet quality standards. In addition to the core launch, the retailer plans to reintroduce its seasonal sweet potato casserole in late October as a limited-time item. Full nationwide availability of these items the new prepared meal line is expected by January. This move represents a strategic shift for the retailer, as prepared meals present different logistical challenges than traditional discount goods, including shorter shelf lives and stricter quality control requirements.
