Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson has undergone significant lifestyle and health changes in preparation for an upcoming reunion tour. Lifeson initially revealed his decision to quit using cannabis, noting that while THC had previously assisted with his complex musical work, he sought to improve his focus, discipline, and confidence for the high-pressure touring environment. Subsequently, Lifeson credited a wellness clinic in Austria, the Vivamayr establishment, with facilitating the band’s reunion. After struggling with chronic nausea for 18 months and unsuccessful surgeries, Lifeson sought treatment at the clinic with support from bandmate Geddy Lee. Through dietary guidance and wellness treatments, Lifeson managed his arthritis and lost 30 pounds, overcoming the physical doubts that had previously made him uncertain about returning to the stage. During a performance in Montreal on September 4, Lifeson displayed a renewed sense of lightness, engaging in humorous banter with Lee and drummer Anika Nilles. During a technical pause before the song ‘Limelight,’ Lifeson joked that he was ‘the boss’ and jokingly ‘fired’ the rest of the band, claiming he would perform the show alone to make ‘hundreds of dollars.’
