Alex Wright injury and Cleveland Browns roster changes

Overview

Cleveland Browns defensive end Alex Wright sustained a lower-leg injury during a practice drill against the Buffalo Bills. While his initial status was uncertain after he was carted off the field, it was later confirmed that Wright suffered a ruptured Achilles.

As a result, the Browns placed Wright on season-ending injured reserve. To fill the vacancy on the defensive line, the team signed veteran defensive end Derek Barnett to a one-year contract. Head coach Todd Monken has also begun utilizing Mike Hall Jr. during preseason action to provide depth.
