Alfa Romeo has progressed through the public debut and technical testing of the Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa, a limited series of ten units inspired by the Luna Rossa AC75 sailing vessel. The vehicle was first showcased at the Pista & Piloti event in Germany, marking its German public debut. Following this exhibition, engineers completed intensive track testing at the Balocco Proving Ground to refine the car’s aerodynamics and driving sensations. The model, developed under the BOTTEGAFUORISERIE program, was scheduled for exhibition in Cagliari during the Sardinia Preliminary Regatta. Building on this partnership, Alfa Romeo has now unveiled the ‘Edizione Luna Rossa’, expanding the special series to include four models: the Junior, Tonale, Giulia, and Stelvio. Debuting in Naples during the America’s Cup 2027 preliminary regatta, the series celebrates the technical and sporting collaboration between the automaker and the Luna Rossa sailing team. This partnership involves technical exchanges in simulation, vehicle dynamics, and software development for sail control systems. Design specifications vary by model. The Junior and Tonale utilize a grey exterior inspired by sailing life vests and feature 3D Knit upholstery, a technology used for the first time within the Stellantis group. This manufacturing process uses a continuous thread to create single-piece upholstery, which reduces material waste. The Giulia and Stelvio emphasize high-performance aesthetics, incorporating carbon fiber components and interiors featuring ECONYL regenerated nylon fabric. In Italy, pricing for the series ranges from 37,800 euros for the Junior to 73,350 euros for the Stelvio, with a progressive rollout across European markets. Santo Ficili, CEO of Alfa Romeo and Maserati, described the partnership as a “genuine exchange of technology and vision.”
